My report is over the book titled The Accidental Zillionaire: Demystifying Paul Allen written by Laura Rich. I chose this particular book because I was wondering what really happened between Paul Allen and Bill Gates. There have been other books where people questioned certain things that Paul Allen had done in his life. I know before I read the book I thought it was going to be boring and uninteresting, but I was wrong because the book was full of interesting facts about how to manage your money, how anyone can start a business, but making it work is very hard and very time consuming, and what to do if your business has failed. Before I started the book I have three main questions I wanted to find the answers for. The questions I asked where why did Paul Allen resign from the board of Microsoft? ; How well did Paul Allen do with his dream of cable? And How well did Paul Allen do on his own?.
The first question I asked was why Paul Allen resigned from the board of Microsoft? I found that my answer was not what I thought. After increasingly distancing himself from the company he helped create 25 years ago, Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen yesterday said that he will step down from the company's board of directors next month. Allen, a Mercer Island resident worth about $36 billion, will become a senior strategy adviser to Microsoft, the company said in a proxy statement filed after the close of business yesterday. Allen, 47, declined to comment on why he is resigning his post.
In a prepared statement, he wrote, "Being an active board member for a dynamic and successful company such as Microsoft is a time-consuming role and one I have enjoyed for many years. This new role will enable me to spend my time on technology and products where I can really make a significant contribution." Allen's spokeswoman, Susan Pearson Brown, said Allen is not leaving for health reasons. After founding Microsoft with Chairman Bill Gates in 1975, Allen left in 1983 in the midst of a battle with Hodgkin's disease.
