"Green design is building with a conscience", said a man who believes that buildings are the biggest polluters of our environment, but are they really? In this essay I will discuss a wide range of topics that Green Design can cover which can be anything from recycling to the materials, to the materials that we choose to use on buildings.
Green design is based on the approach that all stages of a products life can produce environmental impacts that should be carefully looked over. It's for this reason that we must select the materials we use carefully before choosing them to design with.
Green Design is the idea that a consumer product should be compatible with nature. This would mean redesigning products and industrial processes to make them safer, environmentally friendly and more efficient to the environment. In this essay I will explain several key factors of green design. The wider community like the government and industry, all the way down to what communities can and are doing to help. I will also discuss the characteristics of materials and the overall appearance of them and the affect they can have on the environment and society as a whole.

Some important points when producing or evaluating a product are the hidden ugliness factor. Some products may look harmless enough but in fact the product could be doing damage to the environment that is often hidden from the consumer and even the designer sometimes. Damage to the environment could be things like deforestation, pollution, and even global warming. It is important to recycle so that we can be more like nature in itself and keep the amount of resources we use low. We can recycle our materials like milk cartons to allow resources like trees to be needed less and less giving us a better chance of growing back our forests. Solar energy is a safe, reliable, and highly efficient way of obtaining power. It can be used in conjunction with the environment and avoids such power as nuclear power which, although it may provide a massive amount of energy, it is considerably harmful to the environment.
