This past week for class we went to the Career Development Center, or otherwise know as the CDC. This is the area of our campus where students can figure out what career they are interested in, what their career might do for them, where they can receive help concerning placement after college, find out about internships, etc, etc, etc. There are a lot of tools and resources here for all students, no matter where they are in there "career walk.".
I was just glad I remembered to go to the CDC instead going to class (which I almost did). However, when I actually got there, I was actually in for something that I thought could have been more exciting. I say this because the lady who gave us the "tour" smashed us with a ton, of info, and it was a lot to try and take in and not end up overly informed. The fact that they have all these things is great, but it reminded me of going to the library at high school on the first day of school, when this lady told you how to use so many things and you just sat there and doodled on the folder in front of you. I"m sorry to say that, but it's how I felt. Maybe I feel that way because about my career status, I've wanted to be an Athletic Trainer for several years now and have already looked at many of these resources. I just hope that the others in class got more out of it then me, so our class's trip was worth something. I would feel really bad you the teachers, if the trip was worthless. .
I think the lady at the CDC just needs to make her presentation more exciting, or give us cake. All I could think about after she said they gave out cake at welcome week was how I wanted cake! I LIKE CAKE!.
Anyways, I hope this is a little bit helpful on how I, and possibly others felt about last weeks class.
