One aspect, which leans towards the advantages of companies, is that criminals cannot physically steal the goods' (Overly [1999]). But in order to really ensure that security in Digital Business is strong enough to fight computer crime, many companies have already discovered a range of methods to protect their businesses. This is through use of Safe security'.
Safe security involves the many methods that are used for protecting Digital Business eg. Encryption of data, good security. Among these methods is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)' which is the standard for secure data transmission over the Internet. It was created by Netscape and is popularly used in most Digital Businesses, when dealing with online transactions and purchases over the Internet (Stampman.com [1999]).
SSL is widely used because of its remarkable authentication and encryption technology; developed by RSA Data Security Inc. This ensures Digital Businesses, that information which they send can be trusted to arrive privately and unaltered to the server which they specify. Most modern web browsers such as Netscape's Navigator ® and Microsoft's Internet Explorer ® already support SSL (Stampman.com [1999]). .
If customers desire to identify whether or not the Digital Business which they are dealing with uses SSL, they should look for a picture of a gold key (if using Netscape ®) or a picture of a padlock (if using Internet Explorer ®) on the bottom of the browser. Or if the URL begins with https:// instead of http:// then the document comes from a secure server.
