Younglife:Cultural Text

Christian cultural over the years has dramatically changed. Ten years ago, you would not see people wearing WWJD bracelets and t-shirts or hearing Christian songs on the radio. One of the Christian groups that has played in this change is YoungLife. YoungLife is a world wide organization with members involved in churches, schools, towns, and cities across the world. YoungLife is a Christian group that brings young adults together once a week in a meeting called club. Club is a creative hour of energetic chaos within a safe, controlled environment. YoungLife is a cultural text because it gives teenagers a place of acceptance, a safe harbor, and an encouraging environment which have aloud teenagers to grow more into the Christian cultural.
YoungLife is a place of acceptance. It makes you feel accepted because the teenagers there are not judging you by the way you look or who you are. When I first walked into club, I could not believe that it was a Christian place. There was so much diversity in the room it made me feel comfortable with whom I was. YoungLife accepts every denamations and race.
Teenagers need that place of acceptance because there are a lot of things that we go through. One of the problems is self esteem. This plays a big role with acceptance because if you do not have any self esteem then you"re not going to feel accepted. A lot of people do not think they need self esteem because they do not want to be conceded. YoungLife makes you feel good about yourself. The people are always asking you how your day is or how is life treating you. Therefore, you know that you are accepted at YoungLife.
A lot of teenagers have bad family lives. Self-esteem could be one of these things that you do not receive from your family. YoungLife accepts you for whom and what you are. They give you the love, compassion, and the togetherness that you may not receive from your family.
