The Australian society has five major types of law within it. The laws are common, statute, customary, criminal and civil. Criminal laws exist so that the people within a society can feel safe and protected, although crimes are increasing more and more every day, especially in young people. A crime is a wrong that is commited against a society, society nowadays has a bnch of rules which should be followed so everything can function efficiently and effectively. These rules reflect the attitudes of a community which exist in relation to specific types of behaviour and the community belief that these actions should be punished.
Is "Justice" available for everyone living in australia?.
Justice, it is the principle of fair treatment or conduct, but is it really so fair? Back in the days when laws first came into practice, Justice was not important when it came to punishing. To the Babilonians justice was payback. The British beleived that if a person was guilty then the gods would send them a sign. The greeks held their trials in front of the public and let them decide whether a person was guilty or not and if he was then what punishment was suitable. Nowadays, with all our laws and court systems, do we really treat people fairly depending on whether they are guilty or not?.

White collar crimes refer to a type of crime committed by people in the workplace.Examples of white-collar crimes include bribery,extortion,fraud,telemarketing,insurance,price fixing,loan sharking,black market operations,obstruction of justice and perjury, and computer fraud. Depending on whether federal or state law has been violated, white collar crimes can be prosecuted at the federal or state level. Penalties vary, but in some cases can result in large fines, restitution, and jail time.Criminals of this nature are labelled as White Collar Criminals.Most people think that white collar crimes don't involve any physical violence, this is not true.
