Cyber City can it really exists? With the advancement of technology this type of educational environment could possible exist. As technology has increased and improved over the years, with virtual online courses now in existence, access to all types information via the Internet, video conferencing, e-mails, I can go on and on. We currently have somewhat of a Cyber City with the exceptions of structure explained in the article.
Cyber City will become it's own educational community ran solely by supercomputers that every individual will have access too. However, it will effect the way each individual learns, there's not much face-to-face interaction, the convenience of choice is also taken away to some extent. .
The system will greatly enhance the elderly ability to learn, most of the elderly generation is not that acceptable to change with the collaboration of learning in groups with the younger generation will give the elderly generation the encouragement to adapt to change and not be afraid.
With the younger generation, there is an on going issue with discipline; I don't see how the community can control this issue from a distance learning environment.
The community will have to make adjustments to culture differences, language barriers that will affect each individual as the community expands to other countries. .
Funding of this type of environment is another concern, if tax dollars are to be used, how will this effect the current situation regarding consumer tax dollars? How would this be included in the budget? .
The idea of sharing a wealth of information in a collaborative learning environment is a great concept. It is stated that collaborative learning methods are now used in over a third of higher education courses, and their use has increased in the past six years more than any other learning method, according to a survey conducted by UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute.
