Food Journal Report.
I have never really thought about why or what I consume until recently, but I have come to realize that I generally love food. As I was eating and writing about it in my journal I realized that my diet was horrible. My eating habits are everywhere, and it made me realize that maybe I need to change some things. When I was younger I did not like to try new things, but as I grew older and became more experienced, I decided that trying new things is not so bad. David Haynes in the essay "Chinese Ribs" states, "In the meantime the great blessing we all have is that, according to scientists, our most enduring memories are taste and smell" (Haynes 122). Haynes and I share a common trait because I believe this to be true and I can remember the taste and smell of the popcorn we popped in 1st grade from fresh Kernels stovetop. Food also makes me feel better and gives my body the necessary nutrients to function properly. Without food there would not be any life on earth. .
I am very picky when it comes to the things I eat, but not so much as whether is it healthy or not. Healthiness is a factor but I focus more on the preparation and contamination. One thing I always pay attention to when I go into restaurants is their overall grade and if it is low I will not eat there. There are some things and places I enjoy eating a lot, and I didn't notice it until I looked at my journal. There are a couple things that I have been eating more than others since I have kept this log. .
One thing I eat a lot is a "Kickin Chickin" meal from Zaxby's which consists of 3 fried chicken strips between two pieces of Texas toast, fries, and a drink. I go to Zaxby's a couple times a week, but that is good considering the fact I use to eat there more times than not when I was back home. I also realized I eat too many burgers, whether it be from restaurant or homemade. No matter how many different restaurants I go to I always seemed to order some type of hamburger at least half of the time.
