The Life and Times of Me


My parents were called many times to school to check on my academic progress and social life. When I was grade four, I was selected to be school prefect, so that I would monitor my class and maintain order around the school. It was quite an achievement and a school record at that time. I was the first fourth grader to become a prefect.
             I earned respect around my classmates and no one bullied me now. I developed interest in public speaking and I joined the club at our school. I was selected to participate at the district competitions where I always came out top. I proceeded up to national level raising the flag of my school high. I also joined the chess club at my school and I also developed an interest in charity. I started writing my own short stories based on the ones my grandfather used to tell me. My dream was to become a lawyer-the reason being my dad told me the job suited me. I also joined the athletics team and the Budiriro Agricultural Club when I was in grade five. My aunt gave us a house in South Downs, Gweru so we had to move and to reduce transport costs they had to transfer me a closer school-Sarah Bata Junior. It was a very painful moment. I had to leave behind my best friends, my neighbors and my wonderful primary teachers. I found it difficult to adjust to a new way of life. It was like a new page in life – new school, new neighbors, new uniform, new teachers. The headmaster of the school was very happy to have such an achiever at his school. He was fascinated about my interest in extra-curricular activities and my grades. I worked hard –reading and participating in my areas of specialization. .
             In 2008, my father decided to drop out of the education sector. He went to South Africa to look for greener pastures .Whilst he was there he always sent money and groceries. At school I always came out top and the teachers always appreciated my good work. When I was in Grade 7, I was selected to be the Vice-Head boy of the school and in the same year I wrote my ZIMSEC public exams and I obtained six units.
