Diversity does not only involve how individuals perceive themselves but also how they perceive others individuals within the organization (Sims, 2007).
In the 21st century, due to the rising domestic workforce to the globalization of business, cultural competence is perceived as the most fundamental skill for effective work performance. Culture constitutes norms, values, and traditions that affect ways in which members of a group typically interacts, perceives, behaves, thinks and makes judgments. Thus such cultural diversities should be a major concern for Juanita's company. In every decision that is to be made by the company, there should be no discrimination concerning culture of the employees (Losey, Meisinger, and Ulrich, 2005).
Analysis of the ethical considerations that apply.
The main aim of Juanita's company is developing a human resource plan to that shares with Rich. Some of the managers or Board of Directors believe that a business is in the business of making money and nothing else. This, however, should not be the case. Corporate social responsibility is gradually becoming a prevalent business concept in developing economies. Corporate social responsibility is the organization's commitment to run in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner while simultaneously acknowledging the interests of its stakeholders, that is, consumers, shareholders, employees, community, government and the environment. Also, groups such as trade unions, suppliers, competitors and business associates constitute the stakeholders to a business. Stakeholders' theory of social responsibility emphasizes a wide range of social responsibilities for firms and organization. Corporate social responsibility is one of the ethical issues that would apply in the case of Juanita's company (Sims, 2007).
