Three roles or functions of the political parties would be: selecting candidates- they have to choose people that they think will best fit the job and who they think voters will approve of and is the leader of the party; acting as a watch dog- they watch over the party, offer solutions and they also criticize it, they keep things calm and in order; they also educate the public- they try to inform the people about the important issues at hand, they hold meetings, give out packets, and make commercials so the public is informed.
Conservative and Liberal Parties.
Favoring less governmental influences on society is a conservative party, which would be the Republican Party. One who favors more governmental influences in society is a liberal party, which would be the Democratic Party. People think that the Republican Party is liberal which means they should change laws to solve problems. They think that the National Government should set standards for the United States. Other people the think that the Republicans are conservatives because they believe that change should be gradual. They think that making new laws will not always solve problems. Some Republicans think the government should help citizens that cannot help themselves.
Issues.
One issue that the parties face would be education. The democrats oppose voucher programs because the Bust proposal permits the voucher for religious and private schools. They also oppose any system that takes away funding from failing schools. The Republicans believe that the federal government role in education should be limited. They argue that parents should not be forced to keep their children in poorly performing schools. Failing schools will be forced to change their ways or close: Bush argues.
Another issue that the parties have to face would be family issues. Gore, which is the representative for the Democrats, agrees preschool should be available to four years old.
