Especially in the NFL today, in order to have an elite Superbowl-contending team, you must have a good quarterback. It might not look it on paper, but they have improved at quarterback as well. One of the biggest moves this offseason was trading previous starter Nick Foles for Sam Bradford (Transactions). Some say that it was a terrible mistake to trade a quarterback who just a year ago led the NFL in QBR throwing 27 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions, made, a pro bowl appearance, and earned, pro bowl MVP for a QB who hasn't played in only 49 games over 4 seasons because of two ACL injuries. But Bradford is an upgrade; he excelled in a system similar to the one Chip Kelly runs when he played for Oklahoma, earning a Heisman trophy. Bradford was drafted first overall by the Saint Louis Rams, and in his rookie year he won Offensive Rookie of the Year. Chip Kelly believes Sam Bradford has tons of potential, while Nick Foles had hit his ceiling (Klump). The Eagles re-signed last year's backup quarterback Mark Sanchez to a 2 year deal. Mark Sanchez is a great backup with a solid QBR of 88 last year (Transactions). The Eagles also signed Tim Tebow to compete with Mark Sanchez for the backup spot. Tim Tebow was a former Heisman winner as well and was drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos (Transactions). .
The quarterback is only as good as the receivers they're throwing to, and the Eagles have a solid receiver corps. Though they have good receivers, they have not improved yet, but they haven't regressed either. The Eagles lost Jeremy Maclin during free agency as he reunited with his old coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs, opening a huge hole going into the draft (Klump). Kelly didn't waste any time addressing the issue in the first round drafting Nelson Agholor, wide receiver from USC. Geoff Zlobinsky writer for philadelphia eagles official website states, "Nelson Agholor is a perfect fit for Kelly's scheme; he's long, not only vertically fast but diagonally fast as well, and he's a spectacular route runner.
