After days of unanswered phone calls, Frankie decides to make a house visit. Frankie becomes alert to Roys condition and refers him to a doctor that he knows, Dr.Klein; who subscribes Roy his medication. During one of his sessions with Dr.Klein, he learns of his offspring, "You have a fourteen-year-old daughter named Angela" and she wants to meet you" (59) Dr.Klien insist that this would be beneficial for Roy and encourages him to meet her. Roy agrees to meet Angela at a park nearby his house.
After waiting patiently at the park, Dr.Klein arrives with Angela; Angela's a very down to earth, sweet and bubbly young girl. Roy and Angela connect instantly, sharing conversations about Dr.Klien and Heather; Angela's mom. Angela discloses to Roy that her mom told her he was dead (64). After a few laughs on the swing the two head to a diner. Roy is mesmerized by his daughter; Garcia writes "She looks down at the menu, runs her finger along the edge. Roy can't help but watch as she pores over the choices. Sticks her tongue out of the side of her mouth while she thinks Heather use to do that Roy smiles" (67).
Since Angela's presence, Roy is now enjoying life and the company of his newly found daughter, no longer having those queasy feelings. When Angela leaves to go back home, Roy notices a group of boys staring at his daughter as she enters the train, his initial thought is to give them beating, "but there's no pressure there. No pain in his skull. No bile rising in his throat" (73) Writes Garcia. Roy is cured, Angela is his remedy. The two start to spend a lot of time together; Angela helps Roy to pick out new suits at a boutique store he's never been to also she convinces him to get a haircut (99). Now having a daughter Roy experiences, a new found happiness in his life, Garcia writes, "The joys of the food court are relatively new to Roy. He'd always seen people eating there, but never tried it for himself.
