Planned Parenthood Research Paper

There list of services is so broad that according to plannedparenthood.org, "One in five American women has chosen Planned Parenthood for health care at least once in her life." While many of their services are limited to women, they offer amenities for men as well. Little known to many, the organization offers screenings for testicular, colon, and prostate cancer, jock itch exams, urinary tract infection, vaccinations, and HIV testing to men all over the country. They also give out free condoms. The body itself is a focus of their efforts, but the mind is also on the list of things to take care of. Counseling and referrals are offered at many locations. .
Planned Parenthood has always been a low cost alternative for those who couldn't afford to go to the hospital or their doctor. While they do accept many health insurance plans for those who go to them for a specific service, many of the people who come through their doors don't have the means to pay for services rendered. The organization receives some of its funding from private donors and the government. Due to the high profile nature of abortions and it's placement in the Planned Parenthood repertoire, many donors specifically request that the money they provide not be used on abortions because they do not support it. The rest of the funding they receive is directly from the government. They are provided with approximately $500 Million a year to fund clinics nationwide. This is where the majority of their money comes from. According to PlannedParenthood.org, the services they offer like Birth Control which cost $20-$25 per pack, STD/STI testing at $125, and counseling at $40 per session. These are the prices that are reflected with the funding the organization receives from donors and the government. Abortions cost $515 and under the Hyde Amendment which was enacted in 1976, which restricts the federal funding of abortions in America, except for instances of rape, incest, or saving the life of the mother.
