Everyone's an Author: To Be or Not to Be?

One feature is the different colors of some of the pages. This is a very influential feature of the book because it allows for easy access when a student needs to find a specific part of the book. A student can just open to a color and find what they are looking for. For example, in "Genres of Writing" there is a "Writing Analytically/A Roadmap" section that is on pastel yellow pages. As one goes through the book and looks at each yellow page section there is a roadmap that helps with the ideal that the book was covering in that specific chapter. The blue pages represent readings that are in line with the chapter it's in and there is also a section in the back of the book that has many readings for students to look through to get a better understanding of the style they are working on. The notebook paper looking pages mean that a new chapter is beginning. If one needs to know how to write a research paper and any of the required parts along with it, the green pages have that information. Sometimes students are required to use different writing formats like MLA or APA and they are hard to do correctly, especially if they have never use it before. The grey pages hold all the pointers and formats for MLA style format and the light pastel pink pages are for the APA style format. Need help with finding your style or how to write in a specific style? The purple pages are the place to go. The information there explains different ways to know what your personal style is and ways to know how to write in a pre-required style. For example, for Project 3 in my English 101 class we were required to write a review of IUP as a whole. I had never written a review before this project, so I had to go through the book to figure out how a review is supposed to sound like. I looked in the table of contents to find out where the book addressed writing reviews, and then I opened straight to the yellow pages because I knew that the Roadmap section would explain it in a way that was easy to understand.
