Police is able to capture joker, however Harvey falls victim to jokers plan and eventually has half of his face burned turning his positive enforcing character into hardcore vengeance filled murderer. Joker escapes his entrapment and sets another morally challenged decision in front of Gotham's Dark Knight and Lt. Jim Gordon. The film ends with Harvey dent's death. To save the integrity of what Harvey Dent stood for as a D.A, Batman convinces Jim Gordon and takes the blame for Harvey dent's murder. Conclusion with capture of the joker was kept open ended. The entire film is thus a direct crime based action film with best adaption towards the comic book.
Nolan has managed to give it a modern day look unlike his previous film which has uncertain periodic look. One can observe a drastic change in the visual power of his film with a very cinematic view. Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan wrote the screenplay together. Philosophically speaking, the concept of morality has been challenged against most of the social norms, mainly justice and triumph of good over evil. The character of Joker has been inspired from the 1988 graphic novel "The killing joke". This horrifying clown faced man puts forth extreme situations making Batman and Jim Gordon execute extreme ethical decisions for the city of Gotham. Beauty of this film as like its prequel is that Nolan has modified the characters from the comic book to very realistic believable yet unpredictable characters. All the arms, technological advancements and action sequence portrayed in the film seems believable in normal life, with a complete realistic look making larger than life character of Dark Knight as human as possible. One can observe that direction for this film was the key to its success. Christopher Nolan used the right amount of pacing for each structure of the scene making it more intense as it progressed. Subtle but inspiring dialogues added gravity to the characters.
