Aristotle's Nature of Ethics

Moral Virtue is acquired by a combination of knowledge, habituation and self-discipline. He believes that the study of ethics helps instill proper virtue in an individual. I agree with this theory from Aristotle as individuals are not born with virtues embedded in their nature, their moral and ethical decisions decide their virtue. Decisions made for the good create a positive virtue, while unethical decisions made be a person in their life has Aristotle believing that they are inherently evil based upon these decisions. I agree with this stance on regards to moral virtues has immoral or unethical decision making provides verification that an individual is solely looking out for themselves and not the greater good of a whole.
Aristotle's Doctrine of the mean creates the thought that an individual can destroy ones virtue by the excess or deficient actions they take when facing a decision. He believes that when an individual is faced with a choice, they should make a decision that is somewhere in the middle of both extremes. An example of this would be if someone is faced with a dangerous situation the individual will choose a decision that is neither cowardly nor heroic. This individual makes a courageous decision that is not excessive which would cause them to be reckless but courageous enough in which they won't be considered cowardice. This theory holds truth as these decisions of the "mean" ensures the virtues of an individual by not going outside the boundary of an individual.
Moral purpose and Moral responsibility are described as voluntary decisions made by an individual that is considered the "right" choice. Aristotle believes that all voluntary decisions are to be considered with dealing with a man's moral purpose and responsibility for that decision. He believes that all involuntary decisions should not be considered when deciding what the moral purpose and responsibility was for this decision.
