Putting an End to Period Shaming

"28 percent of girls in Uganda do not go to school when they have their period, which accounts for 20 percent of a whole school year," The Plan states. Growing up in America, it was never difficult for the majority of us girls to get the products we needed for our cycle, its hard to envision the challenges that these girls have to over come just so they could keep the image that woman don't bleed, sweat, or excrete any bodily fluid.
For some reason, it is so awkward for humans to talk about the natural bodily processes that we go through. Therefore we often try to make the idea of a girl or woman menstruating 'disappear,' but we all know just because we don't think about it doesn't mean it's not there. The main thing that bothers me and I'm sure plenty of other women can agree is men or boys think its acceptable to blame our emotions on our menstruation. It's true that during that time of the month many of us women get emotional, but it does not make it acceptable for men to deem their actions as appropriate and that we're just overreacting because of our menstruation. An example of this stigma would come from someone who is running to become America's next president, a well-known public figure, Donald Trump. Being that he wants to take on such an important position, Trump has attention from most of America and his ideas and opinions on the current events in America are taken into consideration on a daily basis. A news anchor for Fox News did not agree with something that Trump said and expressed her opinion and Trump's response went along the lines of she's only distraught because she's "bleeding out of her wherever." (Trump) His statement is cowardly because he is suggesting that this woman only had her opinion because her 'wherever' is bleeding, her opinion should not be viewed as a woman's opinion, or a man's opinion, but as a human's opinion.
