The purpose of this paper is to defend the rights of homosexual couples to marry, have children, and enjoy the same rights that the constitution states for heterosexual couples. People question whether same sex marriage should be legal and whether homosexual couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples. Should same sex marriage be legal? That is the question many people are asked and some are unsure whether it is should be legal or not. People have different views on whether it should be legal or not. There are a few people who believe homosexual couples should have no right to get married; they think it is wrong for them to get married. Whereas other people think that homosexuals are just like everyone else and should have the constitutional rights as heterosexuals do. As of May 21, 2013, 13 states and 13 countries such as Vermont, Connecticut, Sweden, Canada, and South Africa allow same sex couples to be legally married. (ProCon.org, 2012). In my opinion I believe that homosexual couples should be able to get married and have the same constitutional rights as heterosexuals, because they are just like us, there is nothing wrong with them, they are not doing anything wrong but just finding love and wanting to profess their love through marriage. They just want to live their live with the one that they love by getting married. Denying someone the right to marry whomever they want is really obscured to me because that is basically telling the person that you cannot love whomever you want, you can only love a certain type of person.
There are several states in the United States that do not allow same sex marriage it is unclear as to why they do not allow same sex marriages in their states. Many people in those states often protest the right to allow same sex marriage legal in those states. Love is a blessing, which is only human. Therefore there should be no law banning the marriage of people of the same sexual orientation that love and care about one another.
