Across the National Aquatics Center was the Beijing National Stadium, another unique-looking construction that hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics. The stadium was built resembling a bird's nest, which was the most exquisite type of architecture I had ever seen. That night, despite the fact that it was closed, the lights inside the stadium were on, and I remember seeing a portion of the seating bowl in the stadium due to the porous structure of the building. It made me realize how unique and creative people are. The real deal, however, began on Christmas Day. .
I felt someone shaking my shoulders that morning. "Wake up," I heard my grandmother's voice, urging me to open my eyes. "Get ready, we are going to see the Great Wall!" she continued, excited about the fact that we were going to see the renowned Great Wall of China. We had a really quick breakfast that morning because my uncle explained that we would eat a big lunch that afternoon. About fifteen minutes later, my father gathered all of us in the hotel's lobby to wait for the van that he had rented. Soon enough, I found myself sitting in the first row of the passengers seat; Grace sat beside me. We departed from Beijing at eight o'clock in the morning local time. It took two hours to get there by car. Everyone was asleep, except Grace and me. We were laughing about how the driver turned the car to the right sharply, almost making us fall off our seats. Grace saw a megaphone laying near her feet. She whispered to me, "Hey sis, I have a plan." I looked at her and instructed her to proceed. She pointed to the megaphone, and continued, "Let's wake the others up, we're almost there anyways." .
"You're evil!" I gasped. The mischievous glint was visible in her eyes. .
"Come on! It will be funny!".
I thought about it, then nodded as Grace picked up the megaphone and handed it to me.
