Three Point Summary of The Iliad



             Hector was not expecting Achilles to rejoin the battle. The Trojan army was afraid of Achilles flees back behind the city walls. Achilles killed every single Trojan he sees. Achilles takes revenge for his friend by killing Hector in single combat. He lashes the body to the back of his chariot and drags it across the battlefield for several days. Now, at last, Patroclus' funeral can be celebrated in what Achilles sees as a fitting manner. Soon, the Gods agrees that Hector deserves a proper burial. Zeus sends Hermes to Hector's father, King Priam, whom encouraged by his grief, recovers Hector's corpse from Achilles, and  with Hector's funeral during a twelve day truce granted by Achilles.
             2. Discuss the qualities and emotions of men that are implied or stressed in the story.
             Achilles- the great warrior and the mightiest man in the Greeks army. Achilles agreed to join the greeks army even though her mother told him that he will die in the battle. But being proud and headstrong, Achilles feels insulted when Agamemnon takes his war prize Briseis. Achilles also feels so much grief and anger when he's friend Patroclus died and because of that he decided to rejoin the battle.
             Agamemnon - the leader of the Greek Army against the Trojan Army. Agamemnon is strong but arrogant and selfish. He thinks foolishly by claiming Briseis for Chryseis place that angers Achilles, which leads to crisis to his greek army.
             Patroclus - a fine warrior and a companion. he was so devoted to Achilles and to the Greeks. He takes Achilles place to regain the energy of the greeks even though he knows the danger of it.
             Odysseus - A fine warrior and one of the smartest Greeks Commander. He helps Agamemnon to solve his issue with Achilles.
             Menelaus - King of Sparta; the younger brother of Agamemnon. While it is the abduction of his wife, Helen, by Paris that starts the Trojan War, Menelaus shows calmer, less forcing, and less egotistical than Agamemnon.
