Locke and Hobbes on Nature and War

Only when one person confronts another is a state of war present because anyone can kill anyone else without the fear that they will be punished by a higher power. Locke also believed that men could live together appropriately and live under reason with his state of nature that there was no reason to have a sovereign, because the people could control themselves and didn't need someone telling them what they could and could not do. Locke's view of a 'free to do whatever you want' type of state of nature is the reason why people would side with Locke's view. People who don't agree with the idea of government or someone who controls and makes decisions for others as a whole would most likely side and agree with Locke's view on the state of nature. Also because people would be able to live free to do as they feel and do whatever it is they want to do without any restrictions by law or government is a possible reason for why Locke's view would seem appealing.
Locke's view of a state of nature free of laws and government may seem great and amazing to some but to me it sound's quite ridiculous. Locke believes that people can live without a sovereign or government and live a life of just the people. He states people can live together in a society without government and laws and believe that every single person will make reasonable and just decisions, but if you think realistically there is no possible way that would ever happen. If there were no laws, no rules or government to live by people would feel free to do whatever it is that they would like, such as stealing, assault, and even go as far as murder. Without any consequences put into place people do not comprehend the limits of what they can and cannot do. Without the knowledge of restrictions there is no way a society could thrive and function going off of good will and faith. Believing that people will make just decisions is impossible knowing the fact that there are millions of people all believing in different things.
