Legalizing Physician Assisted Suicide

First of all, we need physician assisted suicide in order to help and protect the incurable patients who have been tortured and suffering from excruciating pain. In the Belgian documentary named "Dignitas – La Mort Sur Ordonnance" directed by Jean-Bernard Menoud, the patient who is waiting for the day or his death keep says "Please kill me." The patients confesses that this is not a life. Every morning he opens his eyes, he enters to the hell. Even when he is sleeping, the pain never goes away. Belgium is one of the countries that have legalized physician assisted suicide, and later in this documentary, he takes the death pill and end his life with his own decision. I can never forget his face when he takes the pill. During most part of this documentary, he cries, hurts, and has no happy expressions, but he finally smiles when he is relieved from the pain (Menoud). Some people say that we can't kill patients like this, but I would like to say that it is also not okay to torture, and leave them like this. According to the latest data of World Health Organization, more and more countries are signing or considering the bills which allow physician assisted suicide because their people want it. Also, in Oregon, the population of incurable patients who want to euthanize themselves have been increasing year by year, and these data represents what people want (Barone). Today in the U.S, we are living in democracy and we have rights to do the things with our own bodies. In many states in America, governments and doctors are just forcing to endure pain and torture to the patients who cannot handle and manage their pain. Governments and doctors should work to help and protect their citizens. What they are doing is not helping them at all, but harming. They shouldn't ignore what patients claim, and they can be satisfied with physician assisted suicide.
Secondly, the patients are thinking that they are living without autonomy and losing dignity during their hospitalization.
