The doctrine of scripture was very inspirational in that it brought God words, books, and scriptures to newer and higher levels of understanding for me personally. It taught me the structure of the Bible, how it was written, and by whom. In this critique, I will be discussing the basic contents and format of the bible and explain how it is broken down for the many readers.
The content of the bible is very simple, yet complex in its wording depending on which version, we are reading. The Bible has several different versions, i.e., The New King James, New International, New Living, New Century, and New American etc. Even though there are many versions, the basic standard is based on God's word translated for the ease and comfort of the Christian reader. The King James Bible is the most widely used bible amongst Christians. The reasoning behind the many different versions is based on the level of one's Christianity. A person who is young in Christ might use the New International because of the modern day English it encompasses. A seasoned Christian might use the King James Version because of their strength and maturity in Christ. .
Nevertheless, the Bible has the same basic concept and standard. There are many different writers and translators of the Bible, however, the true author is God. Some of the ways the Bible contents were given to man were by Angels - Acts 7:38, Christ - Hebrews 1:1-3, Visions -Isaiah 6, and my favorite the Voice of God - Deuteronomy 5:4, 24. The Lord used shepherds, fishermen, tax collectors, prophets, kings, prisoners and many others to write his word for us to use in our daily walk with Him. .
The Bible has two major components or testaments: The Old Testament and New Testament. The word testament means an agreement or covenant between God and man. The Old Testament has 39 books dealing with the history of God, our creation, and the nation of Israel. The Old Testament begins with the book of Genesis, the creation of man, and ends with the book of Malachi.
