Nonverbal Communication - Journal Analysis

His manners were obvious, placing his hand on MAW's lower back, guiding her to her chair and waiting until she was seated before taking his own chair. .
MAW appeared to be about the same age as MAM. Her hair was colored and/or highlighted, styled in a shoulder-length bob, her make-up was almost imperceptible but perfectly applied and she carried herself with an air of confidence. At first I thought she was maybe even a little arrogant or at a minimum, aloof. She was closest to me and I could smell her perfume – a pleasant mix of lemon and musky spice. Her light sweater twinset over neatly pressed cotton slacks with low-heeled white sandals was casual but classy. Her finger and toenails were manicured and polished and I smiled when I noticed a toe ring on the middle toe of her left foot. When she took her seat and her pant leg lifted just a bit, I noticed the lower edge of a colorful tattooed flower and vine around her right ankle. How interesting. Looking at the couple together, although they appeared to be polished middle-upper class, I could not help but think they definitely knew how to let their hair down and have some fun, or at least had in the past.
The younger couple was not quite so much of a "matched set" as the older couple but I guessed that the four were somehow related. The YM was in his mid-20s and dressed much like the older couple. He was a little taller than the MAM but had the same strong nose and jawline. His hair was neatly styled, trimmed above the ears and collar giving him a military look. In addition, to his clean cut appearance, he carried himself with an air of confidence – square shoulders, straight spine, calm demeanor. His shirt was tucked neatly into his khaki pants and the edge of his belt buckle lined up with his fly – a sure sign of some military training, past or present. The wedding ring he wore was a plain gold band but shiny and new.
