Let's Keep the 2nd Amendment

If America gets rid of this amendment, a right that America has had for decades, what's to say that other amendments in the Constitution won't proceed to be called into question as well?.
Originally, men and women were given the right to protect themselves from, not only the cruel wars throughout the country, but the government itself. The Second Amendment was one of the most important additions to the Constitution because the United States would rely on armed citizens to protect themselves, their families, and the nation. Although there are no foreign soldiers breaking into our homes, stealing our wives or children, or threatening us with weapons, there are still life-threatening dangers in this world that we need to be protected from. Imagine if you are in an unsafe part of town and someone approaches you, demanding money or your car keys. You don't give it to him. He then threatens you with a knife and will physically hurt you if you don't do what he says. With the Second Amendment, you could pull out your licensed weapon and defend yourself from this armed criminal. However, if the amendment does get abolished, you would have lost your money or landed yourself in the hospital. The Second Amendment doesn't state that American citizens have to own any type of weapon and it is, in no way, telling you how to live your life, but it is there as a constitutional right to protection.
To be fair, the other side of this gun control argument needs to be acknowledged. It is true that gun violence is a problem in the America. Thousands of people are killed each year in crimes involving firearms. There are have been mass shootings at schools and other public places. It seems that some issue of gun violence is addressed on the news on a regular basis. People use guns to rob, maim, murder, intimidate, and commit acts of violence. People also use guns to commit suicide. Gun violence is definitely something that American citizens need to be concerned with.
