The Second Amendment to the Constitution, which concerns the right to bear arms, has been a hot-button issue in America for the past few years. Gun rights and gun control groups alike have been lobbying Congress for decades to craft legislation in their respective favors. This issue has not only brought out extremes on both sides of the controversial topic, but has turned America's attention away from the seriousness of the situation. No one, male or female, gets more heated about a topic than gun control or the banning of guns altogether. Anti-gun activists have even been rooting to ban the Second Amendment altogether. Pro-gun activists are threatening to become outlaws if guns are banned or if the Second Amendment is abolished. It seems that the overly opinionated focus more on the controversy and drama of gun control, rather than the safety of their families. Violence will always be an issue in human civilization, however, it needs to be understood that the total abolishment of our second amendment will not solve crime and murder rates, but instead, will take away power and the ability to protect oneself from the responsible, law abiding citizens of America.
After two hundred and twenty seven years, many families nationwide seek to ban the second most important amendment in our country's constitution; an amendment that was adopted by our Founding Fathers and the men who made this country the great nation that it is today. In spite of the clarity of this amendment, we have seen, repeatedly, the attacks and efforts to "infringe" on this individual freedom. Over the past two years, anti-gun politicians throughout the country have tried to turn law-abiding citizens into criminals. The image located on the first page of this paper depicts that we should stand by America's original platform and support this country and the decisions we have made to protect it. Having Uncle Sam on the poster not only portrays "America", but also the patriotism and support America needs to succeed.
