9 million women in Malaysia. If visible to reforms made in the development of National Policy on Women 2009 is the passion to defend the rights of women, particularly in issues related to gender. Where is this policy more emphasis to the principle of no discrimination on the basis of gender. This policy intends to realize the government's aspiration to develop competitive human capital and have the endurance to produce women who are knowledgeable and insightful, has a creativity and innovation as well as appreciate the values.
During the National Policy on Women first introduced only two objectives are set that are, first to ensure the fair sharing of resources in acquiring information, opportunities and benefits of development for men and women. The goal of equality and fairness shall be used as the core of development policies orientated, so that women, who represent half of the nation's population, can contribute and achieve their full potential. The second objective is to integrate women in all sectors of national development in accordance with their capabilities and needs of women in order to enhance the quality of life, eradicate poverty, ignorance and illiteracy and uphold peaceful, prosperous and peaceful.
However in the National Policy on Women 2009 have some improvements that have been made. The first one is developing potential of women from various walks of life and in all sectors as agents of change to the community as well as contributing to economic and social development of the country. Second, providing a conducive environment, including the formulation of policies and legislation, friendly woman, to enhance the dignity and well-being of women in all aspects including physical, economic, social, politics, health, psychology and spirituality. Third, promote gender equality in all walks of life in all sectors. Fourth, to ensure that the views and voices of women adopted in decision making process at all levels.
