The History of Palestine and Israel

The history of the Palestinians and the Israelis dates back to many centuries ago. Judea was the home of the Jewish ancestry. Judea was conquered by the Romans and renamed Palestine. Palestine was later conquered and inhabited by the Arabs for over a thousand years. (Wiki, 2015) with the birth of major nationalist movements among the Jews and among the Arabs, both nations were ready towards attaining sovereignty for their people in the Middle East. (Wiki, 2015) The open-ended clash between Palestine and Israel has been going on for far too long. The cause for this conflict started with the movement of Zionism. The UN partition, Balfour Declaration and Oslo Accords are all agreements that were undertaken to reduce or eliminate hatred between the two nations but has failed to create that peace alliance. .
Zionism is a nationalist, political movement of Jews, aiming to re-establish their goal of a Jewish identity state in Palestine (the ancient homeland of Jews). (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2015) Zionism is an extreme religious belief that believes the Jews should be in Israel. Jews tracked their home nation through the biblical kingdoms of David and Solomon, circa 950BC. Jews' desire to a return to Zion began in the 19th century, precisely around the period when nationalism started to rebel in Europe. Theodor Herzl a Jewish Austrian journalist was the first to develop Jewish nationalism into a global movement. The conflict in Palestine grew when the indigenous people of the land became startled about Zionist wanting their own land for a Jewish state, and the holocaust impacting the number of Jewish immigrants to rise impeccably in Palestine (A Synopsis of the Israel/Palestine Conflict 2015). .
In 1917 Arthur Balfour wrote a letter to Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild, and a leader of the British Jewish community.
