Although I must admit that I am not a poetry fan, the poem "the mother" is a very strong and emotionally striking poem. It clobbers a lot of deep feelings of sympathy, agony and sadness in the reader. I know this was evident for my case. The poem reflects deep thoughts on a very controversial issue of abortion. There are various sides to this issue. One side consists of the pro-abortionists, those who support abortion and shove for its legalization. They feel that they will be able to live themselves and the thought of killing a life or not giving an opportunity to experience the ultimate gift of life.
This poem portrays the opposite. The other side of this issue is the anti-abortion group. This group is against abortion and seeks to ban this unjust practice. The first lines of the poem are significantly strong comments. "Abortions will not yet forget. "You remember the children you got that you did not get- Despite current situations, one maybe going through or the unfortunate events that occurred to you that got you in the predicament where you are planning to take a life. You will have to remember that it is a living being. .
Everyone should have an equal opportunity just like you have had. There are long-term effects when dealing with abortions. These effects are not only physical, but more important emotional. I know despite the conditions an individual is in, long-term thoughts possibly having a child that will be the reason for your existence was all thrown away. A child resembles a major if not a major accomplishment of an individual. Much pride should be taken when receiving the title of being a mother or father, but yet people are more enthused with the title of supervisor, manager, or president.
The feelings associated with having a child will never be experienced, but always thought about. Both positive and negative experiences come with children, but those are the most memorable.
