Child sexual abuse is sexual contact with a child that occurs as a result of force or in a relationship where it is exploitative because of an age difference or caretaking responsibility. Child neglect is the failure to provide basic physical health care, supervision, nutrition, emotional nurturing, education or safe housing. Sexual abuse has been going on for quite some time. 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys will experience some form of sexual abuse before the age of 18. According to American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, "child sexual abuse has been reported up to 80,000 times a year, but the number of unreported instances is far greater only because children are afraid to tell anyone what has happened." Majority of the time, children are sexually abused by someone they know and trust. Most sexual abuse cases, comes from babysitters, family members or insane parents. A lot of sexual abuse cases are not even reported. .
There are many reasons children do not reveal being sexually abused. Some kids have fears of being removed from their home or have fear of not being believed. Mistreating a child who has no control over certain situations is absolutely wrong. Sexually abusing a child destroys a kid mental health and most likely to destroy the likelihood of the child getting into a relationship as they grow older. The emotional toll sexual abuse give to a child is devastating. The problem with this situation is that its destroying young kids mind. Sexual abuse situation always mess up your thought process and have you become less confident in yourself. You start to think you're different from others and you tend to not be excited about life. Communication is key, without communication you cannot receive help. I just want to encourage kids to speak up about situations they do not feel safe about. Even if it makes you feel like a snitch, speaking up protects your life.
