However, radical humanist and interpretive view are subjective while the other two paradigms are objective. My preferred Paradigm is Functionalist that is the most attracted paradigm for theory and research in term of organizational researches (Burrell & Morgan, 1979). Functionalist paradigm is described as Realism, Positivist, Determinism, Nomothetic, and Regulation. It stands in the sociology of regulation and objective view. In other words, it is characterized by an objectivist perspective and rooted in a regulation view on society (Lehner & Kansikas, 2011).The main approaches of functionalist paradigm are social system theory and objectivism, theories of bureaucratic dysfunctions, the action frame of reference and pluralism (Hassard, 1991). .
Burrell & Morgan (1979) state that Functionalist paradigm presumes that the society has a concrete, real existence, and a systemic character. It is directed to produce an order and regulation. The functionalist paradigm supports a study in which researcher employs a strict scientific method to distance from the consideration matter (Hassard, 1991). .
As objectivists, Functionalists believe the reality exists independently of those who live in it. The society therefore is seen as an integrated system in which all the components connect to others as a whole. Therefore, all incidents can be foreseen because they are parts of the world in which they live in. They are interested in identifying the link and order between the different parts and how they interact with each other. .
Functionalist paradigm is interested in understanding society in purpose of providing useful knowledge. Therefore, it considers the important of how people generate knowledge and answer for the question of what standard for differentiation good knowledge from bad and how reality should be described. Functionalist has a practical viewpoint toward finding explanations and solutions to social problems.
