Research Paper - Understanding Animal Cruelty

To start off, Animal abuse is something many people talk about on a daily basis. There are many things people don't know about animal abuse. American Humane Association helps out by stating that americans have even more pets than they do babies ("Facts About Animal Abuse & Domestic Violence"). This shows that animal abuse can have a bigger impact on the society today. With a larger numbers of animals over babies in the world, it creates a bigger chance for animals to be abused. Now animal abuse can be split up into two types, abuse on purpose and abuse on accident ("Animal Cruelty and Neglect Exposed"). These things can sound very stupid be they can actually be separated into groups. Abuse on accident might sound ridiculous but it can happen. To split them up Legal and Criminal Justice states that intentional abuse is the act of putting harm on an animal, and Unintentional abuse is the lack of resources or aid given to an animal ("Animal Cruelty and Neglect Exposed"). The most common is unintentional abuse for many reasons. Some people don't think that they are abusing their animals, this can be caused by the lack of experience they have with owning one. Many people don't know they are abusing their animals until the animal is showing that illness. This is the reason why more than a thousand animals are seen to be abused each year ("Animal Cruelty and Neglect Exposed"). This may not seem like a big number, but it has a big impact on how one sees animals today. As one simply watches tv today, there are multiple commercials showing abused animals. This just shows how many are put in danger today. There is also something very surprising about these abusers. As the American Humane Association writes, seventy percent of animal abusers have a crime in their record ("Facts About Animal Abuse & Domestic Violence"). Now that seems pretty crazy but quite expected.
