In many states, which affects the population who are gay. Same sex couples are denied the privileges and the act of marriage. In our society and Cassia's society, the basics are the same when it comes to family love and romantic love. Both believe in the power of love and triumph of love above all else. For Cassia's family, bending the rules for your family often shows more love like when Cassis's grandfather died, he was qualified to have a tissue sample preserved, so he may be brought back to life in the future. But it was grandfather's wishes to his son, so Cassia's father destroyed the sample, which was forbidden in the Society. The love between the family inspires them to take dangerous risk to protect one another, "How many stupid mistakes is he willing to make for those he loves." (p.202). Cassia will not bend the rule to keep her family safe, she says, "What I risk has a limit, I wont risk Bram. (pg. 203)  In our society, family is also the most important thing in the world, to some the love of family is much more important than wealth. The family is the basic unit our society, just like in Cassia's society. Both our society and Cassia's society have the same reasons for wanting everything perfect, we both want a society where there are no illnesses, no murders, no hunger, no wars, no fighting. The difference is that in our society that would be the ultimate goal and still a long way to attain or almost impossible to attain because of too much freedom. But in Cassia's society because everything is controlled by the Society, everything seems to be perfect. "All of the things that were shown in early studies to be good for longevity, happy marriages, healthy bodies are ours to have. We live long good lives. We die on our eightieth birthdays surrounded by our families before dementia sets in. Cancer, heart diseases and most debilitating illnesses are almost eradicated.
