We have heard many talks from politicians and debates among citizens on the implementation of a casino in Grenada. With the current economic downturn we are currently undergoing it would be a wise decision the government can make in order to boost the economy through tax revenues, employment, improve infrastructure and an increase in our tourism sector. Many countries drive to legalized casino gambling with the desire to increase their state tax revenue which would be a plus to their economy. There have been many research conducted on well developed countries than Grenada is today on the effects they have faced due to casino legalized gambling. With no remorse I strongly oppose to allowed casino in Grenada due to the social, economic and being a Christian society that we are.
Grenada is known and stands firmly as a Christian society. With this being said simple means that our Christian beliefs, customs and values that our religious groups practices are basically of the same origin. We have been given the ability to think and be free in doing anything we pleases but we should not be brought under the control of anything but no other than Christ in our lives. There have been many dialogues among members on the board of Conference of Churches that are in disagreement to implement casino to Grenada for many reasons brought forward by the bible because gambling breeds a form of covetousness( The tenth commandment). Since we are a bible believing nation it is declare in Hebrews 13:5, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" Who are we to go against his teachings?.
Economically we are quite certain a casino would create great incentive and would be beneficial to the government. In other words the government is expected to collect tax revenue from the casino operators thus adding more money to the government's pocket.
