Now, I know if it were my child they would not be listening to Eminem, Nicki Minaj, or singers like these using lines with vulgar and inappropriate language. My last point in pop culture influences is the reality television shows. Many of these shows portray stereotypes such as; dumb blondes, smart Asians, black gangsters, and low life pregnant teens. Which is not only rude but most of the time not true. For example, in the well know reality television show Glee there are two Asian students ironically with the last name "Chang", who both were adopted from Asian countries, and throw a fit when they get less than an A on any school assignment, which they call in the show "Asian Fs". In addition their school principal, who is Indian-American, has a heavy Indian accent, and once, on the show, was said to smell like curry. Now these things lead people to believe that all people with different colored skin were not born here, cannot speak well, or are not accustomed to the American culture, which is incorrect and racist on so many levels. Nevertheless, now days is not a big deal to show a couple in bed together or scenes with sexuality, murder, or intended vulgarity, when in the 50s some of these things would be would be against the law or not publicly acceptable. Also considering your beliefs, and judgment maybe you are against homosexuality, or interracial relationships, which are both very commonly shown in these shows. No matter what your beliefs or thoughts on these issues are, the media creates controversy over anything and everything. So, whether you care to know about it or not media shoves it in your face and it makes you think, are you really part of the norm in society? Do you think the same way the media portrays it to be?.
The second type of influence is the technology that we have, and are creating every day. First of all, cell phones. Cell phones create a simple and quick way to call or text a message to a nearby or distant friend.
