Music Research Paper - Für Elise

Disco music was what topped the charts during the 80s. In order to overcome this predominant culture wave, Quincy had strongly suggested creating a new balance between R&B and pop, disco and rock, and funk and ballads.
Going back nearly over a century, we now have Ludwig van Beethoven and his masterpiece, Für Elise. In 1810, when Beethoven was 40 years old and already widely known as one of the greatest composers in history, he composed "For Elise". It is still theorized as to whom this piece was composed in honor of, but regardless it does not wane on the superior level of composition. Written in A minor for solo piano, Für Elise is classified as a bagatelle. These are short pieces of music, typically for the piano, and usually light and mellow in character. In earlier periods, the bagatelle had also been written for a variety of instrument configurations, but generally they are heard as solo piano performances. In actuality, the score was not published until 1867, 40 years after the death of the composer. It is now known that researcher; Ludwig Nohl claimed to have seen this dedication on the original autographed manuscript, which had since been missing. Therefore, the version of "Für Elise" we listen to present day is the earlier version that was transcribed by Ludwig Nohl. There is also a more recent version that drastically changes the accompaniment. .

Thriller is a song written by Rod Temperton, produced by Quincy Jones, and then performed by Michael Jackson (1). The song was originally going to be called "Starlight", and it was going to be part of a concept album (An album that follows a storyline or has a plot) but that plan was scrapped, and the original lyrics were adapted to fit the song we are more familiar with today (2). The song is well known for its music video rather than the song itself, selling over ten million video copies (3).
