Many people now a days further their education in Web Development to become a web developer. The job of a web developer is to create and build up websites. They are responsible for the appearance and layout of the website. Developers incorporate coding languages such as HTML or XML to create the information that will be on the site. Incorporating graphics, audio and video are some of the many things that they must know when creating websites. They build up clients and meet with each of them to make sure what kind of website they want, whether it be a professional looking one for a businessman/woman or a colorful and playful one for daycares. Web developers will work in groups so they can figure out what information goes where, and there will be many different opinions on how the site should look. (Bureau of Labor Statistics 1).
When trying to obtain a career in this field, it really depends on what setting a person chooses to work in when continuing their education. It could be only designing the graphics for the website, or taking all the responsibility of a web developer, which includes audio and video. No matter which position of web development a person chooses to go into, everyone must have a high school diploma. (U.S. News & World Report 1) The highest degree of education required would be a bachelor's degree in related fields such as computer science or information technology, however getting a masters may be acceptable, it is not necessarily needed. (CHC 1) Some previous knowledge of multimedia publishing tools such as Flash would be great to have also. Future web developers, however, need a complete understanding of HTML, JavaScript or SQL. (BLS 1).
On a median annual wage, web developers make an average of $62,500 a year working full time. (U.S. News & World Report 1) Based on experience and how well a person is at web development, their salary can range from as low as $33,550 a year to as high as $105,200 annually.
