The Pathway to Corruption

This is exactly the cause of corruption when a leader needs to use force to implement laws until the people themselves change. A harsh love-hate relationship between the people and the government. Machiavelli continues, "You will find the populace to be much superior in both goodness and glory. If individuals are superior creating constitutions and institutions, them the populace is equally superior to an individual when it comes to maintaining the institutions once they have been established"(p.157). It shows just how pivotal the relationship between the people and government are. In a democracy, that is government ruled by the people, stress the importance of unification of people and politics. As mentioned by Machiavelli if the populace can work with the monarchies then problems can lead two ways; either revolution or oppression. Its almost like the stable family theory, the parents need to work with their kids, listen, support, and love them. The kids also need to show respect, love and care to their parents in order to get this stable family structure. If one side doesn't fully cooperate then this ideal loving family will disintegrate.
This idea of mutual respect and mutual cooperation exists in today in world politics. Machiavelli's points are valid and also mentions, "It's also a good principle that everyone should be able to express his opinion on the subject, so that the people, when they have heard everyones opinion, can then make the right decision. But once they citizens become corrupt this system became distress, for only the powerful proposed laws, but only in order to build up their own power"(p.128). When governing it's important to hear other people thoughts, to know whether what you're stating is a good idea or a flawed one. If there is no dialogue or debate, the government can become a narcissistoracy. The notion of checks and balances is also heavily required.
