Socio-Cultural and Psychoanalisys Perspectives

Freud referred unconsciousness to physical mannerisms, dreams and slips of the tongue (Weiten, 2012). Nolen et al. (2009) suggested that if behaviour was suppressed during childhood, it could later on manifest itself in forms of emotional problems or symptoms of mental infirmity. As seen in the case that Tumi had been raised by her aunt because she could not foster a relationship with her mother.
Considering this is a loss of her maternal figure could have triggered her to see her dead grandmother and have dreams of her grandmother saying something to her, thus her lack of family support could unconsciously influence her feelings and thoughts thus changing her behaviour (Nolen et al, 2009).
