The trend in reality TV shows and television sitcoms or exploitations of family dysfunctions and have become part of our culture. West notes the connection between the media and sales targets certain audiences. Furthermore, West points out how the lack of regulation negatively impacts poorer areas. I agree with West's point of view. Media creates an increased desire for trendy expensive items via commercials attached to popular minority television shows. These audiences are sometimes not aware of the messages being drummed into their psyche via the media. West refers to the deregulation agenda which had its roots in the 1970s as neoliberalism. In my opinion, deregulated open markets are one of the primary driving force behind media driven sales.
             The Imperial system, prophetic system to West is the truth from Jesus and profits being ethical, doing the right thing and having courage. West does not support President Obama and speaks openly about his dislike for him. Cornell West believes the president is part of Constantinian Christianity, which is a prophetic religion. West wants to do away with dogmatic views. West observes religion and democracy from an intellectual and spiritual perspective. This point of view may not be one of the masses but he stays true to his individual beliefs. Though controversial, West is certainly in my opinion not a hypocrite. Cornell West writes from an intellectual nonjudgmental perspective on religion and world politics. The crisis of Christian identity in America is central in "Democracy Matters", West points out that the rise in Constantinian Christianity is not always apparent.
