The role of ethics should never be underestimated. It is what makes the societies that we live in, businesses, governments and at large the world that we live in .Ethics are fundamental to the existence of different bodies to operate and continue in operation, even to times indefinite. Some such as Velasquez, Andre, Shanks and Meyer (2010) shared that ethics are a code of conduct that governs between what is right and wrong. However there is more to ethics than just a view of right and wrong. The question then is; what is ethics? Ethics can be fully described as the backbone, life blood that supports every living thing (people, businesses, institutions, countries and other organizational bodies) to discern a conduct that enables them to live in congruence and co-ordination devoid of doing any harm through recognizing issues that might cause clash and inharmoniousness within an existing body. .
Ethics play a fundamental role in business research. According to Velasquez et al. (2010), they illuminated the role played by ethics in deriving law, making judgements based on feelings and other important issues such as religion. It is to no doubt that ethics are very significant not only in business but also in enumerable areas both in business and society. Furthermore, Oskar Blakstad (2008), showed that ethics in research not only play the role in issues such as depicting wrongs such as plagiarism and copying of patents only but enable people to plan and organize their research as well as evaluate their research to enable them to reduce scenarios where there is deception and disregard of human life such as in the Tuskegee Syphilis study and Stanley Milgram experiment where Tuskegee did put people at risk and where Stanley lied in a movie thereby cheating the public.
Ethics ensure that the general public is safe from different researches conducted by different scholars around the globe. Apart from the above, ethics also ensure copyrights and fairness to current researchers through enabling them fair access to information and issues discovered by previous researchers.
