Voiceover Internet Protocol

Over the past few years, data networks have been growing at a much faster pace than that of voice networks. This continuing trend is most commonly attributed to the rapid growth of Internet networking services. Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP is a technology in many modern technology systems that enable users to use data to carry voice traffic. The term IP as we know stands for Internet Protocol, which is a language that computers use to communicate with the internet. VoIP is basically a comparatively innovative modern way of digital voice communication that relies on many communication protocols, technologies, and transmission techniques for delivery over a data network.
The distinctive feature of VoIP is that communication happens over the Internet. The most common network of VoIP is the Internet but also, it uses networks such as a business's private data network. VoIP is increasingly prevailing over traditional analogue telephone. The attractive rates in VoIP telephony have long won over more than just young people and computer fanatics. Since the worldwide expansion of data networks and the resulting increases in performance, voice quality, and the reliability of VoIP have also improved enormously and are becoming more widely accepted. VoIP applications now exist for mobile phones.
Contrary to the misconception that VoIP induces, it does not deal only with voice transmission. VoIP technology can be considered a medium of transmission also for fax, SMS, and voice-messaging applications that are transmitted through the Internet rather than the public switched telephone network. VoIP is based on widely available technology; hence, it has been given to the general public cheaply. Due to the nationwide buildup of broadband networks, Internet users can connect to the Internet everywhere rather than building private data networks. The concept of VoIP first came about in 1995, when hobbyists began to recognize the potential of sending voice data packets over the Internet rather than communicating through standard telephone service.
