Alexander Pushkin and Russian Literature

How would it feel to be the most beloved writer of all time in a country known for their literary talents? Even today, Alexander Pushkin remains Russia's most beloved writer. His works have left a lasting impact on Russian culture and literature. No other writer throughout their history made such an impression on the way Russians live their lives. He set the bar to a new level that has yet to be matched even to this day. .
Alexander began to make a name for himself at a very early age in his life. While Alexander was growing up he was given the best education you could have received during the time period. As he went through his schooling something was definitely unique about this young man. On one occasion Tsar Alexander made a visit to his school, and while a majority of the students applauded in bewilderment, Pushkin had other thoughts running through his head (Massie 203). He immediately drew up a picture that portrayed the Tsar mockingly. His classmates got a great kick out of this and it showed Pushkin's dislike for authority at an early age. At the age of fourteen his literary talents began to arise when one of his poems was published in a St. Petersburg newspaper. This began to give Pushkin a great deal of fame at his school and many had eyes watching his works now. Alexander Pushkin's works soon started to become like no others. It is stated that, "He could describe brilliantly the dizzying whirl of society in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and yet also evoke just as vividly the smell and feel of the country." (Massie 204) His world play and descriptions of scenery left people speechless. It was as if you were actually in these magnificent cities. .
Although the poem that he published early on made him a great deal of success, it was not until a later event that Pushkin's talents were truly known. It was during a qualifying examination that the poem Pushkin recited gained him attention from the most famous old poet during Catherine's time (Massie 205).
