Around the world, people in all sorts of different cultures strive to be something different, whether it is darker or lighter skinned, heavier or skinnier, and even less like one's ethnicity. All of these humans are missing out on the grand scheme of things though, because are those things what really matter? With all of the infatuation of varied appearances, and even the truth of somewhere else across the globe, a culture is striving to look like yours; the true inner beauty of human beings is lost in the confusion. Beauty throughout cultures is interpreted in many contrasting ways, including size, and most importantly inner beauty. However, the concept of beauty, whether it is how much one loves or the style of their hair, needs to be looked with more acceptance and with a heavier focus on what is on the inside.
We as human beings assume that inner beauty is something one can only feel and never see, and its importance is nil compared to people's size and style but we are missing the truth in that. People lose sight in the fact that looks aren't everything, and also the fact that people in Hollywood don't necessarily look the way they are constantly perceived as. For example, the magazine pictures which people look towards around the world as the "perfect image", are actually just professionally airbrushed and a masterpiece of Hollywood technology. These false images are beginning to corrupt the population of not only the U.S. but the entire world. The world of entertainment creeps up around us whether we can tell or not. Advertisements and "better" ways of life are placed and shown around us, and society has become immune to the constant ads begging for our attention. Our societies need to gain introspect, and realize how wrong the entertainment quadrant of the world is. All we need is the realization that what is on the inside and in our souls matters most. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it within us or we find it not.
