America's War on Sex

            
             This book was incredibly eye opening in that saying there is a war on sex is not slanderous or hyperbolic. In fact there are indeed a great many dangers and even casualties in this assault on everything from the act of having intercourse to educating young adults on the safest ways to be intimate with one another. Misinformation and censoring keep people from even learning the correct processes a body goes through to satisfy their needs. Described in "The Governments Attempts to Control Your Access to the Net" is a very brief list of some people who have been attacked for their refusal to conform to the sexual agenda much of the media seems to adhere to. In this list are described some proposals which if passed could use tax payer dollars to fund public censoring software to be installed on computers available in libraries and schools. I find it incredibly galling that an arbitrary definition of "indecent" created by a group of people in some far off office building will impact not only my experience online but children and adolescents who could potentially benefit from that material. .
             This description of harmful or mature content could include anything from renaissance art of nude models to an educational website which outlines the basics of sex intended for children under 10. What is most jarring about this war on sex is that America is literally dubbed the home of the free and yet the decisions of individuals to abstain or engage in sexual contact is one of the most mainstream forms of debate, and all for the comfort of a small but loud individuals. Those who make their living from the sale of sexual paraphernalia even in a legal and discreet setting can be assaulted and indefinitely stopped making a livelihood by conservative people with a prudish sexual agenda. When a "bust" does occur almost all of the inventory will be seized which works as a double blow to cause legal costs to be almost impossible.
