Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi

Developing one's identity is a huge topic, which is a complex thing depending on many factors. However, no matter what ways people used to develop their identity, that process is always highly related with learning and interpreting. Azar Nafisi, the author of the book "Reading Lolita in Tehran", interpreted the story of Lolita through her own special perspective to develop her own identity. Since the certain situation in Tehran, many things were forbidden by government and school, like the western literature, Nafisi and her students gathered secretly on every Thursday to read and talk about western literature. She gave the special meaning to the story of Lolita from her own identity. Another author, Jonathan Lethem, he showed his unique perspective about plagiarism in his article "The Ecstasy of Influence: A Plagiarism." He believes that plagiarism is not a simple term, but can be different under different situations. Lethem gave readers an idea that contexts are important in most situations: people need to view one thing in different angle, which may make it completely difference. The idea that things can change when people view them from different angle is also claimed by Oliver Sacks in his article " The Mind's Eye: What the Blind See". Sacks believes every individual is special even when they face the same situation. He contacted those who are blind and found out even they all are blind people, the way they choose to live still can be totally different. Since developing one's identity is the process of learning from old things and recreating something that belongs to oneself or have one's own label, taking risks is always necessary; it is the thing that makes people special and different from each other, and it also prevents people from living in stereotypes. .
Taking risks makes people special in the formation of identity, since it creates a unique meaning for an identity: people are more willing to take adventure for exploring new method rather than staying with stereotype.
