Working as a technician is not about just replacing broken parts, but identifying the root cause for mechanical failure to prevent future equipment failures.
I never considered myself much for the mathematical-logical intelligence, because of the fact that I have never been good when it come to using numbers. After understanding that mathematical-logical was not just about math, but the way someone thinks with logic, critical thinking and resolving issues in general. Every once in a while I have to design and fabricate upgrades on equipment. This process starts with a blank sheet of paper, and using my logical intelligence develops a mental image of my finished product. I began my sketch and begin to disassemble piece by piece what I have created mentally, and put it on paper. I have to keep in mind as my design progresses of any and all possible flaws and address them before I continue. With critical thinking, and abstract thinking I envision how people will be using these new upgrades whether big or small. Thinking of ergonomics and possible safety hazards, from the placement of a button on a screen, to how tall to make handrails. Thinking in a linear sequence form designing to fabrication to trial runs. .
Not long ago at work I we had a machine break down that required the assistance from outside contractor help. The contractor assistance would not be able help until a week out due to their own workload. This meant that the company would literally be loosing thousands of dollars every hour this machine was down. Once I had come onto shift to work and made aware of the issues found with the machine I decided the least I could do was take a look to see if there was anything over looked. With my spatial intelligence just dumb luck or I came across a simple blown fuse. I replaced the fuse, and with no surprise it had instantly blew again. I then relayed the information to my lead hoping to help with the situation.
