As everything in Lebanon nowadays going in the wrong way from politics to economics and so on, there's a new problem facing our society which is the low sexual mentality that our rising generation have. The lack of sexual education in our public and private schools is producing psychological and physical troubles for the Lebanese youth that education was introduced in the 1995, but then it was withdrawn one year later after facing objection from all the religious communities in the country. The Lebanese community and our parents are not brave enough to tackle the sexual issues with their children, so they try to avoid this topic as much as possible. Since then the media appeared as a substitute for the schools to try to give the viewers the right information about sexuality in the right way. The media is trying hard to raise awareness sometimes, but we can't fool ourselves because in my opinion sex education should only start in home and schools, moreover our media is doing it in a wrong way if their goal was to inform the viewer.
Before introducing the reason of my opposition to the way our media dealing with the sexual topics, i want to highlight the main reason behind our problem which is the wrong decision taken by our government. In the last two years the government prevented the emergence of several films in the Lebanese cinemas, they didn't stop here so they shut down many comedy and talk show. The sad thing in what's happening that our government is only fighting the sexuality in media without making any effort to find a better substitute, and it's totally ignoring so the importance of sexual education and its effect on the community. The Lebanese journalist Sahar Mansour, has tackled that issue in her research paper about media and sexuality in Lebanon, she considered that the transformation that has occurred in our media was caused by the socio-political structures in our society.
