The Gospels of Mark and John

.
The next theme portrayed in the Gospel of Mark is authority. Jesus demonstrated his authority when he told an evil spirit what to do, and the evil spirit obeyed. In Jesus' day, evil spirits were considered to be very powerful and do whatever they could to inflict trouble and suffering. When the demon-possessed man comes across Jesus, he simply ordered the demon to leave, and it left. The people had never seen anything like it. The people could not believe that someone can have such authority that even the evil spirits have to obey his straightforward word (MK 5: 8-19). The last theme is silence which goes along with authority quite nicely. In the Gospel of Mark Jesus commands anyone who witnesses him saving someone or healing someone to silence. They must not speak of what they had witnessed. Another example of silence in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus asks his disciples who they thought he was. To which Peter replied to the Messiah and then Jesus forbids them to tell anyone about him (MK 8:29-30). Another example of silence portrayed in the Gospel of Mark is the beginning of chapter 15 when Pilate asked Jesus quite a bit of questions and Jesus never replied to him, which shocked Pilate (MK 15:2-5). .
Although the Gospels of Mark and Luke are basically telling the same story, the main focus of how the message gets across in the form of theme is nowhere near close. The three themes in Luke are divine plan, justice to the lowly, and Jesus' normalcy. The first theme in the Gospel of Luke is divine plan which is obviously displayed in chapter one when the angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her about her pregnancy. Mary was confused but Gabriel explained everything about the Holy Spirit which proves God had a plan. In the Gospel of Luke the main focus for justice is to the lowly. Those in the lowly include the women, the poor, the crippled and anyone below someone. In Luke, Jesus tells the people basically how to act towards others.
